Karjat – Laxmi Vann
We at Emerald want to bring to life a community Forest. To revive the concept of a
sacred forest as a nucleus for every village. We will be working with the gram
Panchayat for the Forest. We also want to help farmers transition to more natural
farming practises in the second phase.
The site is in an interior region of Karjat zilla. We have the opportunity to convert 7 acres of land into a lush forest.
Our aim is to protect the land from encroachment and soil theft while creating a common good in the form of a community forest.
We intend to work with the people of the village and adivasi pada and also train farmers to move towards sustainable agriculture from industrial agriculture.
The impact of this will be manifold.
